The Micro Thunder IX Series on Global Poker came, and although it hasn't went just yet, time is winding down to get in on the juicy action.

The social poker site launched the ninth edition of the micro series March 16. Play will conclude in just two days (Sunday), but the biggest event of them all still has yet to begin.

Action kicked off on Sunday with five Gold Coin (GC) and five Sweeps Coin (SC) events. That was just the start of a series that features at least GC 32,500,000 and SC 82,000 guaranteed across 72 total events (36 GC and 36 SC). Before looking ahead at the Main Event (more on this in a minute), let's take a look at some of the recent winners in the Micro Thunder IX Series.

In the GC 3,300 Progressive Bounty tournament, which attracted 210, "Jungernaut747" was the last player standing. The winner prize was GC 332,610 (plus bounties), while the runner-up, "Tummis420" collected GC 155,937 (plus bounties).

"2Fit2Fold" was not too fit to win the GC 1,100 Progressive bounty tournament for GC 77,329, while "Mrly1952" stood tall in GC 3,300 Progressive Bounty tournament for GC 140,862, beating out 206 players.

Over on the Sweeps Coin side, "69grinder" grinded their way to a SC 466 score (plus bounties) in a SC 5.5 Progressive Bounty tournament. There were some other recent champions, including "MyNutzUrChin," "Kefka777," and "KHoney."

We mentioned the Main Event a bit ago, and that tournament will take place March 23. Gold Coin players will compete in a GC 11,000 Main Event, which features a GC 4,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. And the Sweeps Coin players can enter the SC 11 Main Event with SC 15,000 guaranteed. Both tournaments have a "super deep" structure.

All winners during the series will earn an entry into the Gods of Thunder invitational tournament on March 30. The winner of that event will take home a Micro Thunder Series trophy.
