The second leg of the 2025 888poker UK Poker League (UKPL) sees the popular live poker tour head to the Grosvenor G Casino in Newcastle from April 1. It marks the first time an 888poker-branded event has headed to Newcastle since the Aspers Newcastle hosted a £220 888poker LIVE Local event in July 2015.
Only a £220 buy-in tournament took place back then. Fast-forward to April 2025, and the vibrant 888poker UKPL Newcastle schedule boasts several events, including a £560 buy-in, £100,000 guaranteed Main Event, and a £1,100 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller with £50,000 guaranteed.
888poker UKPL Newcastle begins on April 1 with two events and a satellite. April 1 may be a time for pranksters, but the first day of UKPL Newcastle is no joke. A £250 NLHE Opening Voyage with £50,000 guaranteed sets the tone for the week-long festival.
For comparison, the Opening Voyage at UKPL Portsmouth drew in 321 players in late January and paid out £67,710. Although Portsmouth is at the opposite end of the country to Newcastle, you should expect a similar crowd because the Geordies love their poker!
The schedule's crown jewel is the £560 888poker UKPL Newcastle Main Event. Guaranteeing £100,000, the UKPL Newcastle Main Event features a quartet of starting flights. Day 1A commences at 3:00 p.m. GMT on April 3, with 1B and 1C running from 1:00 p.m. GMT and 6:00 p.m. GMT on April 4. Day 1D on April 5 will be the busiest flight, so make sure you're ready to rock and roll from noon.
Day 2 of the UKPL Newcastle Main Event starts at 12:00 p.m. GMT on April 6. Players can buy in before the first cards are dealt, albeit with a much shallower stack. Play continues on Day 2 until one player has all the chips in play.
