The wait is nearly over. PokerStars is about to usher in a brand new era of live poker with the launch of the PokerStars Open, and it all kicks off in the stunning setting of Campione, Italy, from March 10-16, 2025.
With an action-packed schedule, a fresh vision for live events, and the chance to earn points for the recently introduced PokerStars Live League, this series is ready to make an instant impact on the poker community.
Welcome to the PokerStars Open
If you’ve been craving a new poker experience that combines everything you love about the game—big prize pools, prestigious venues, and an exciting atmosphere—then the PokerStars Open is about to become your new favorite tour.
This brand-new series replaces familiar regional circuits like Estrellas, Eureka, FPS, and UKIPT, blending their best elements into a powerhouse festival that offers a €1/£1 million guaranteed Main Event at select stops.
Campione will be the first of six standalone PokerStars Open events in 2025, with the tour also making stops in Ireland, Belgium, Spain, the UK, and France. The series will also feature special €1 million guaranteed Main Events at EPT Barcelona and EPT Monte Carlo, making this one of the most ambitious PokerStars tours in years.
Why Campione?

There’s no better place to launch a new poker legacy than Casinò di Campione, an iconic venue on the scenic shores of Lake Lugano. This legendary casino has hosted major poker tournaments before—including EPT Campione in 2012—and is now set for a grand resurgence thanks to PokerStars’ partnership with Sisal S.p.A.
What’s on the Schedule?
The PokerStars Open Campione schedule is a dream for players of all levels, with everything from knockout tournaments and deep-stacked events to a €5,000 Super High Roller. And of course, the €1,100 PokerStars Open Main Event will take center stage, giving players a shot at a huge prize pool in the tour’s first-ever flagship tournament.
Key highlights include:
- March 11: €2,200 PokerStars Open High Roller kicks off
- March 12-13: Four starting flights for the €1,100 Main Event
- March 15: The €5,000 Super High Roller steals the show
- March 16: The Main Event Final crowns the first-ever PokerStars Open champion

Introducing the PokerStars Live League

Campione is also the first stop where players can start accumulating points in the PokerStars Live League. This brand-new leaderboard competition gives players the chance to win over €150,000 in buy-ins and—most excitingly—the opportunity to audition for a spot on Team PokerStars Pro. That’s right: the top finishers in the league will get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to represent PokerStars on the global stage.
You’ll be able to follow your progress in real-time with the PokerStars Live app, which will keep you updated on how you stack up against the competition. And even if you don’t make it into the money, you’ll still earn points—20% of the value of the min-cash points if you bust before hitting the cash. So, you’re always in the game.

- An opponent may unintentionally help them form a sequence if you discard a queen of hearts after they have already collected multiple hearts. On the other hand, you must consider how a card fits into your existing strategy when you take it out of the discard pile. Picking up a card that your opponent has discarded that could help you finish a set or sequence might be worthwhile, even if it means giving up another card in your hand. This choice should always be in line with your overall strategy; if picking up a card greatly improves your position, it might be worth the compromise. 25-03-01
- Success in the game requires an understanding of its subtleties. The precise rules governing melds, the use of wild cards, and efficient point scoring must all be understood by players. Players should also become familiar with the scoring system, which frequently gives extra points for going out first or for particular combinations. The groundwork for creating plans and perfecting abilities that can result in success in Roz Rummy is laid out by this fundamental knowledge. Crafting a winning strategy in Roz Rummy requires a blend of tactical thinking and adaptability. Early in the game, concentrating on creating sequences is a good strategy. 25-03-01
- Common bonus points can be given for going out first in a round or for finishing particular combinations, like pure sequences (sequences devoid of wild cards). Prior to declaring Roz, try to generate as many high-scoring combinations as you can in order to optimize your score. For instance, you may receive a significant bonus point at the end of the round if you have several pure sequences in addition to sets. Also, think about how your final melds will impact your score; if certain cards can help create higher-scoring combinations later in the game, it might be worthwhile to keep them longer. Success in a game of Roz Rummy depends on your ability to stay patient and focused. 25-03-01

- For instance, three kings from various suits could make up a set, but 4-5-6 of hearts could make up a sequence. Each player draws a card from the draw or discard pile, & at the conclusion of their turn, they discard one card. The round is over when one player declares Roz as the winner after successfully melding all of their cards into sets and sequences that are legal. 25-03-01
- Usually represented by jokers, wild cards are extremely valuable assets during gameplay because they can be used to replace any card in a set or sequence. When you have a wild card in your hand, you should think about how to use it to its fullest potential. Using wild cards to complete challenging combinations that might be hard to accomplish otherwise is one useful tactic. You can make a set of three 9s or use it to finish a sequence like 8-9-wild-10, for example, if you have two 9s and a wild card. But it's also important to be careful how you use your wild cards because if you reveal them too soon, opponents may be able to figure out your plan and block your moves. Consequently, think about retaining wild cards until their effects on your hand as a whole can be maximized. 25-03-01
- Understanding Roz Rummy: A Complete Guide Roz Rummy is an engaging card game that blends strategy, skill, & a little bit of luck. Two to six players can participate in the game, which is usually played with two decks of cards, including jokers. A set number of cards—typically 13—are dealt to each player, with the remaining cards making up the draw pile. The aim is to create legitimate sets & sequences, which are card combinations that satisfy particular requirements outlined in the game's regulations. A run of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit is called a sequence, whereas a valid set is made up of three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. 25-03-01
