Rosen Apostolov hit the dream flop on Day 2d of the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event with top set against middle set. But he'd end up losing his entire stack in the hand.
The $10,000 buy-in World Championship event, at the time of publishing, was closing in on the end of registration. More than 9,500 players bought in, only about 600 short of last year's record 10,112 entries. At worst, the 2025 edition will go down as the third-largest WSOP Main Event ever.

Click herePokerNewslive reporter Jerome Solomon caught a flop of Q♦8♥10♣. Apostolov, who had Q♣Q♠, bet 12,000 with the blinds at 400/800. Omar Mehmood, holding 10♥10♣, raised it to 37,500 with an inferior set.
Apostolov moved all in and received a snap-call from an opponent who had him slightly covered and drawing to a one-outer. The 4♦on the turn didn't change anything, but the 10♦gave Mehmood quads on the river and sent Apostolov home on Day 2.
Mehmood, who has over $440,000 in live tournament cashes, won a pot worth over 150 big blinds and was up to over 200,000 chips during the second level of the session.
Registration will close in the 2025 WSOP Main Event following the second break on Day 2d. The money bubble will likely burst late on Day 3 or early the next day.
Day 2d has already seen some big-name players hit the exits, including 2013 champion Ryan Riess, Jeff Madsen, Todd Brunson, Kristen Foxen, and Erik Seidel.
