- The basic idea of rummy is to form runs and sets from a hand of cards in order to eventually merge all of your cards before your opponents do. For example, a run is a series of three or more cards in the same suit, whereas a set is three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. There are several variations of the game, each with its own special rules & subtleties, and it can be played by two to six players. Depending on the variation, players are dealt a set number of cards to start playing rummy, usually seven or ten. 25-06-01

- In rummy, jokers are wild cards that, when used carefully, can greatly improve your gameplay. For finishing sets and runs, they are extremely valuable because they can represent any card. Having a Joker in your hand creates a myriad of meld-forming opportunities that might not be achievable with a standard deck alone. You could use the Joker as a third King or as part of a run with other sequential cards, for example, if you have two Kings and the Joker. This adaptability enables you to modify your plan of action in response to the game's changing conditions. Though they can be strong allies, jokes should only be employed sparingly. 25-06-01
